Developing Rugby Coaches Course
Level One & Two Certificate
A series of practical workshops and modules developing both rugby knowledge and the application of that knowledge in the coaching environment.
This course has changed from a weekend course to a series of modules throughout the year. We believe that modular based sessions will create better learning opportunities for coaches as topics will be facilitated thoroughly without rush. It also gives coaches an opportunity to complete the course at their own pace – it potentially could 5 years to complete or it could take just 1 year. Facilitating individual modules will also be good for the coaches that have completed the level 1&2 certificate in the past few years. Taking time to refresh on some aspects of the game will benefit coaches. For coaches that don’t have any interest on completing the whole course but would like to learn about aspects of the game that interest them, you can attend any module of your choice. A coach will receive a certificate of attendance for each module and will also go into the NZRU database. Attending modules gives coaches credibility and is a great opportunity to enhance the skills of a coach.
To obtain the full level 1&2 certificate coaches will have to attend every 2 hour Individual Module, the one day of 1 hour modules and also get practically assessed by one of the WRU Rugby Development Officers. There is no longer a workbook and logbook that has to be completed. There is a $10 charge for attending a module.
