Developing Rugby Coaches Course
Level One & Two Certificate
This three and half day course is a NZRU and IRB Level 1 & 2 accredited course. It is a course for coaches of 1st XV teams and senior club teams .
It is a fantastic course and a genuine opportunity to learn from some of Waikato’s great rugby minds.
The primary focus of the course is the ‘HOW’ of coaching. Topics include the role of the coach, feedback styles, coaching methods, teaching of skills, planning, and much more.
Key factor analysis, practical coaching, individual and unit skills, will be covered as the ‘WHAT’ of coaching.
The course is very practical as the WRU believe that this is the best way to learn. Course participants will be expected to fully participate in all aspects of the course.
Coaches will also get practically assessed while coaching their own team by a WRU staff member. The feedback that the coach will receive will further enhance their skills as a coach.
The course will be facilitated and delivered by Waikato’s leading coaches. All coaches that will be presenting have all gone through the coach education process and they will ensure that the information delivered is relevant but also cutting edge.
The course starts at 4.00pm on Friday 17 of February . The 18th and 19th of February will be full days. There is also a follow up day on the 25th of March. Course participants are expected to attend the entire course . An enrolment criteria is that you will be coaching a team in 2012.
