Counties Edge Out Under 16's

The Waikato Under 16's began there Northern Region competition with a dramatic 23-19 loss to Counties.

 

Waikato were ahead on the scoreboard for the entire match, but with time up on the clock and Waikato leading leading 19-18, counties were awarded a free kick from a scrum then rallied to score in the corner.

 

It had been a stoic forwards performance by the Waikato boys. They dominated a much bigger Counties pack.

 

There were fine individual performances by Openside flanker Nathan Sunde(HBHS) and Centre Nico Malo(St John's) who both scored tries.

 

Second Five Hadliegh May(St Paul's) scored the other try for Waikato and halfback Josh Moore(HBHS) kicked 2 conversions

 

Waikato will play their second game of the competition against Thames Valley this Saturday at 11.30am.
