First half:

This was a game that Waikato was expected to win and win comfortably and the Team started in this manner, scoring after just 2 minutes. Bryn Gatland led a charge down the blindside, quick ball from the ruck put Shaquille Jakeman into a gap, then he offloaded to Aaron Crow to score. Try converted.9 minutes into the game and Waikato swung onto attack again. A break by Aaron Crow down the left side and quick ball from the ensuing ruck to Te Maire Martin to dart around the ruck then pass to Dylan Sampson to score. Try unconverted.At the 15 minute mark Waikato won a scrum off King Country, which Te Maire Martin fed to Tallis Karaitiana to score. Try converted.Next scoring play was from a Lineout in the King Country 22m. Ball off the top of the lineout was spread wide and Isaac Te Tamaki injected himself into the line to score. Try converted.From the kick off Waikato were penalised for not rolling away at the ruck. Penalty converted. After the restart Blake Boli secured the ball and broke though a number of tackles and ran 50m to score, which included a nice side step to beat the full back.Last scoring play of the half was a penalty to Bryn Gatland.

Second half:

After a number of positional changes Waikato took some time to settle back into their patterns. 8 minutes into the half a scrum awarded to King Country in their 22m was dominated by Waikato, resulting in a turnover. Tallis Karaitiana picked the ball up from the back and broke through a couple of tackles to score next to the posts. Try converted by Bryn Gatland.Waikato struggled to regain their fluency and the game went through the motions with a number of set pieces not finished off and chances squandered.King Country never gave in and built some pressure on Waikato, which resulted in a penalty in the 17th minute and an unconverted try in the 30th minute.This seemed to spark the Waikato team into life and 2 late unconverted tries to Aaron Crow completed the scoring.
