First half:

Waikato started the game strongly with George Doig having a good run up through the middle from the kick off and linked up with the backs before the forwards drove up the field resulting in Sefo Setephano going over for the first try. Eli Atkins was very strong on defence which resulted in a turn over, and once again the forwards built up the attack with George Doig going over for the second try, converted by Wharenui Hawera. Another great run by winger Navi Sikivou led to Waikato's next try to Hawera who also added the conversion. Another big build up by Waikato saw Glen Robertson go over for the bonus point try, converted by Hawera. Just when Harbour got a roll on and started to build some momentum, Chauncy Edwardson stole an intercept and scored right on half time taking the score to 29-0.

 

Second half:

The second half started with Harbour coming out strongly and scoring within minutes, and then scoring again two more times to suddenly bring the score to a tight 29-21. Waikato bounced back with a very strong run by Kallum Andrews who scored in the corner. Moments later Glen Robertson crashed through two tackles to score his second, before Andrews had another big run and off-loaded to Haami Martin to score the final try to take the score to a comfortable 51-21.

 

Outstanding Players/Moments in the Match:

Sonny Al’fa’alongo was very good in line out and kick off receiving, while Eli Atkins was strong in the rucks and mauls and defence. on Glenn Robertson stood out in the midfield, and Sefo Setephano at hooker had some busting runs.
