This was a far better effort than against Counties though not flawless certainly the intensity and commitment shown by the home side shows promise for better things to come.
This team is capable of playing better as some of the tougher games approach.
On Saturday the home team lifted their intensity and played with far more purpose. The mistakes were limited which resulted in some well constructed tries been scored against an opposition who never gave up.
The set piece was a lot more solid and dominated at all facets of the game, setting a good platform for the backs to move and always gaining territory advantage over their opposites.
It is also important to mention the solid defence from the home side resulting in not having their line crossed and keeping the opposition out of Waikato’s half of the field for prolonged periods.
Strong games from Loni Uhila who was prominent in the loose and at set piece, Joe Reynolds directed the back line with purpose allowing Joe Perawiti and Rakutia Vakalalabure the freedom to attack the advantage line.
The team was well led by Nick Seymour while Rory Grice always broke the opposition’s line with some strong running.
Next week see’s the team travel to B.O.P for a local derby and what’s sure to be a bruising encounter.
